Ash Wednesday

Dear Manorwood Ladies,

The Lenten season begins today with Ash Wednesday as a reminder of a reality we long to forget..."For dust you are and to dust you will return." (Gen. 3:19)

Yet Lent is a journey toward a greater truth punctuated not by a cross but by a risen Savior who came, "to bestow...a crown of beauty instead of ashes." (Isa. 61:3)

Lent causes us to remember that we are dust indeed.  Just before the season concludes, though, comes Passover, reminding us that we are free. Death, which returns bodies to dust, has been conquered by Christ who turns dust into beauty and death into life. *

Whatever your faith tradition, I hope you will take time over the next 40 days and set aside some special time between the Lord and you to prepare for Easter.  Lent is a perfect time to be still and take in all He has done for us.

Love to you all!
Laura
