Advent

Hello everyone!

Happy first Sunday in Advent!  The first Sunday of this time of preparation symbolizes “hope”—what are you hoping for this Advent?

……and speaking of “hope”….I hope I will see all of you this Tuesday at the Manorwood Café !

Here are some pressing dates (aside from our Tuesday nights!) that you need to know about and respond to:

v    Tuesday evening December 7th—“An Evening in December” with Ellie Lofaro and Kathy Trocolli.  This event is only $10.00.  You will need to order your own ticket online at : http://www.florisumc.org/602147.ihtml

After you do, let us know if you are going!!  This is a Manorwood “road trip” --- we will leave together and hopefully have time for a light dinner before the show.  More details will be shared this Tuesday night at Bible study.

NOTE: We will NOT have Bible study on 12/7 so we can attend this event.

v    Saturday, December 11th ~ Manorwood Christmas Brunch at Donna’s.

Please kindly RSVP by December 7 to Donna if you are (or are not) planning to be there.

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO THESE TWO EVENTS!   Even if you haven’t been able to join us for “Believing God” you are still part of Manorwood!  All are welcome!

It is wonderful that we come from a variety of Christian faith traditions.  Some of us light the Advent candles each week in church and maybe at home.  Some of us do not…..but no matter how we look forward to and prepare for the Birth of our Lord, I do hope staying in God’s Word and in community with our sisters in faith will be a priority.  For women, this is a challenging time of the year.  There are so many demands on top of our already full plates.  I am challenging myself to stay on track during this most wonderful time of year.  I do not want to miss anything God has for me.
Isaiah 9:2,6:
2 The people walking in darkness
    have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of darkness,
    a light has dawned.
6 For a child will be born for us,
a son will be given to us,
and the government will be on His shoulders.
    He will be named
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Hallelujah and Merry Christmas!
See you Tuesday!
Love,
Laura
